Seongsan Elementary School under the Gyeonggi-do office of Education is looking for an english teacher to teach grades 3 through 6.
My name is Thomas Fortunato and I have been teaching at Seongsan for 3 years and it has been great. Osan is growing rapidly, they have a newly developed riverside with bike paths, basketball courts and a skating rink. There is an annual half marathon in September and there are numerous foreigners working in the local schools, academies and factories. The schools location is convenient to many places such as Songtan (Osan American Air Base, 2 stops on the subway), Suwon (Satellite city of Seoul, 15 minutes by train) and Seoul(Capital City, 1 hour by bus) For those interested in Tae Kwon do, there is even an english speaking instructor near the apartment. I teach Grades 3 through 6 plus 2 special classes and a teacher class. The administration is always open to suggestions and values your input. I have been invited to attend numerous school trips sponsored by the school or district such as Kyungju, Mokpo and Hongdo Island. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk from Osan Station/Terminal to Seongsan School.
Requirements:
* BA/BS
* Native English Speaker (US, Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand, South Africa)
We prefer someone who is in Korea and can come for an interview, however, those currently outside Korea are encouraged to apply.
Salary/Benefits:
* 2.0-2.3 Million Won every month (paid promptly on the 25th)
* Free Studio apartment, fully furnished in a quiet neighborhood
* Pre-paid round trip air
* Severance pay equivalent to one month's salary paid at the end of 1 year
contract
* 22 classroom hours a week, Monday through Friday 8:40 am-4:40 pm
* 14 days paid vacation (1 week winter, 1 week summer) + national holidays.
With renewal of contract, teacher will receive an additional 2 week paid vacation + a free ticket home and back.
