KMA in the 21st century

Korea Military Academy (KMA) is a four-year college pursuing a special purpose which is to instruct and train cadets so that each graduate will have the essential leadership qualities to become a successful Army officer. KMA, located in one of the most agreeable areas in Northeastern part of Seoul, is now accepting applicants to join our team of English language instructors. We are looking for a Full-Time English Instructor and eagerly waiting for the applications of potential candidates.

Main Responsibilities
• Teach undergraduate level courses and contribute to the continued development of English programs.
• Each instructor will be required to work 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday; 08:00-17:30, excluding lunch time). This will consist of 9¢õ20 hours of instruction, roughly 10 office hours, and 10 hours of class preparation, etc.
• He or she will teach English courses (including advanced undergraduate courses in their area of concentration to English majors) and develop English language instructional programs.
• The 10 hours of class preparation includes preparation and review of lesson plans, preparation of examinations and quizzes, recording of instructional tapes and audio-lingual examination, and so on.

Qualifications and Experience
• All candidates should be native speakers of English and must have a university degree or equivalent from an English-speaking country. (Candidates with a graduate degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, English Language and Literature, or Foreign Language Education are highly recommended)
• At least one year of language teaching experience is required.

• TESOL / TEFL certificate or Secondary Teaching Credential is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with technology supporting second language learning (such as computer-based teaching methods) is highly desirable.
• The candidate must be able to work from September 1, 2008.

Terms and Conditions
• The position starts on September 1, 2008. At the end of the 12 month contract, an extension for a year will be considered.
• This is a non-tenure track position.
• Housing: An apartment with 2 bedrooms on campus will be provided rent-free. Payment for utilities (Internet, electronic, water, and gas fees) is not included.
• Monthly salary of 2,000,000 Won (before tax and pension payments, which are reimbursed at the termination of stay in Korea, depending upon mutual treaties concerning the pension payment between Korea and the applicant's home country).

Benefits
• At the completion of each year's contract, 2,400,000 Won will be paid as a severance payment.
• Access to military medical facilities, partial coverage of the National Medical Insurance (50%), and various state-of-the-art sports/fitness facilities at KMA.
• Paid vacations: 15 days during summer break, 10 days during winter break.
