English Faculty Position Available: Busan, Korea

Kyungsung University (http://ks.ac.kr), one of the top Universities in Busan, is inviting qualified native speakers to teach English conversation to University students beginning on September 1st, 2008. The status of this position is a full-time instructor. The University campus is in the downtown area of Busan, adjacent to Gwanganri Beach. There are various convenient transportation links that connect the university with all parts of country.
Busan is the largest port city and the second largest city in Korea with good retail shopping (E-mart, Megamart, Homeplus, in addition to large Korean department stores) and on major national transportation routes. Busan has gained fame by holding PIFF (Pusan International Film Festival) for 12 years now. It has also hosted the 2002 Asian Games, some of the 2002 World Cup events and the APEC Summit in 2005.
1. Job Description (Starting Date: September 1, 2008)
a) Teaching English conversation to University students
b) Two 15-week regular Spring/Fall semesters (credit course)
c) Instructors are expected to teach two 4-week vacation classes (non-credit course), for extra pay at overtime rates.
d) 12~16 hours of teaching per week (50-minute lesson)
e) Attendance records, homework, testing and grading
f) Employees are obligated to have office hours.
2. Contract Period
The contract shall be effective for one year from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2009.
It is renewable annually depending on the teaching evaluation.
3. Qualifications
[Minimum Requirements]
a) Master's degree with at least one year ESL teaching experienceat university and/or college levels or higher degree.
b) Bachelor's degree with at least three years ESL teaching experience at university and/or college levels if no Master's degree is held.
c) Available for an in person interview on the campus for an on-site Interview
[Preferred Qualifications]
a) English, TESOL, ESL, Linguistics, Education-related degree preferred.
b) Resident with own housing in Busan
c) Applicants with university teaching experience in Busan
4. Benefits
a) Monthly Salary : Ranging from 1.7 to 2 million Korean won (Commensurate with teaching experience and degree)
b) In case of overtime, instructor will be paid 25,000 Korean won per hour.
c) Housing : Partly furnished (stove, telephone, refrigerator) and unshared apartment close to the campus.
• Instructor with own housing (not necessary housing provided) will be paid around 300,000 Korean won per month.¢®©¡ Own housing would be preferred qualification.
d) Medical Insurance : Optional Medical & Dental (50% subsidized)
e) Vacation : 4 months paid vacation a year (usually in July, August & in January, February)
f) Severance : One month salary upon successful completion of contract or appropriate pension plan
g) Office (shared with another instructor) : 24-hour access, private desk with locker, bookshelf, computer with internet, telephone, washstand
