Leader and teacher of group activities, classes and discussions with a focus on personal interaction with an at-risk urban youth population. Responsible for crisis intervention and ongoing counseling on housing, employment and educational skills.
SAT Teacher/Tutor – Kaplan Test Preparation Centers (San Francisco, CA) Jan. ¡¯01 – May ¡®01
Taught English and math skills to high school students in the San Francisco Area to prepare them for SAT college entrance examinations. Created lesson plans with no supervision and assigned homework. Practiced test-taking strategies with students.

U.S. Merchant Seaman – Stabbert Maritime (Seattle, Washington, USA) June ¡¯05 – Jan. ¡®06 Contractually employed as an entry-level Ordinary Seaman (O.S.) on two different vessels for a total duration of approx. six months with 130 days of accumulated sea time. Contracted on oceangoing vessel M/V ¡°Absinthe¡± in Alaska from June ¡¯05 to Sept. ¡¯05 and performed housekeeping, janitorial and kitchen duties as well as any assigned tasks. Also contracted on vessel M/V ¡°Ocean Leader¡± in the Gulf of Mexico area from Sept. ¡¯05 to Dec. ¡¯05 and performed deckhand, housekeeping and janitorial duties.
Case Manager – Union Station Foundation (Los Angeles, California, USA) May ¡¯03 – May ¡®05
Counselor and social worker at the intake office of a Los Angeles, CA homeless shelter. Duties included interviewing, outreach, and housing placement for walk-in homeless individuals and families in Los Angeles. Responsibilities also included crisis intervention and individual counseling on substance abuse and mental health issues. Was comfortable in a high-stress work environment that required constant multi-tasking, and was personally responsible for the welfare and recovery of chronically homeless clients.
