I am an experienced teacher, having taught in the United States, Peru, and China. I strongly believe in living a passionate and goal-oriented life and I reflect that in my teaching. While I believe that having fun and making classes interesting to students is very important, I feel that it is more important that my students actually LEARN as much as they can from me.

I am looking for a teaching position that offers modern facilities and equipment, including the latest in teaching technology such as computers with internet access, ergonomically-correct desks and chairs, and useful textbooks and study guides. More importantly, I am NOT interested in being an "attraction" or "advertising tool" for a school, meaning that I am there primarily to give students exposure to a foreign teacher. In other words, if you are looking for a foreigner to act as a teacher and then parade as many students into his/her classroom as possible while ignoring what is actually useful to the students, please do not contact me. In order to properly teach someone, I need to learn about them, and if there are too many groups, too many students, or too few meetings, I feel frustrated because it is impossible to help each of them truly improve on their ability and start to realize their potential. While some foreigners teach in other countries to find romance, get drunk every weekend, or travel as much as possible, that is not the case for me. I want to help people and at the same time learn as much as I can about the culture and language of whatever country I find myself in.

If you can offer the teaching and learning environment that I have described, then I would like to hear from you. I am interested in university, small-group, or private (one-on-one) teaching. I am not particularly interested in teaching children (unless privately or VERY small groups) and I am not interested in a position which does not allow for personal interaction between teacher and student on a regular basis.

I know that I am asking for a lot, but I have a lot to offer as well. I have a teaching certificate from the United States and my university degree (BA) is in the field of education, and I have different levels of classroom experience to draw from. I am young and energetic, and I have a large variety of interests and experiences which help me to identify with many different people and also to be a better teacher and employee. I am a native-speaker of English (USA) and can speak enough Spanish to tutor in that area. I have some basic ability in mandarin Chinese (putonghua). I value morality and honesty and try to be a "good" man. In terms of salary, I only ask for a fair amount based on your needs, local conditions and my qualifications. I also would expect free language-training and other common perks such as airfare, travel allowance, health insurance, provided housing, etc.
