Hello and good day. My name is Darlene A. Sterner and I am an American. I was born in Montana, moved to Pennsylvania when I was six. I went to a private catholic school, a public high school and then became a student at Pennsylvania State University. My personal education is extensive. During my high school term I was awarded for my involvement in stage management/directing. My high school was acknowledge to be the best in the state for theatrics, and my passion allowed me to become deeply evolved in art and education through enactments. I always loved English, reading, writing, and learning via the language. I have been an avid reader, four+ hours a day, since I was about 8 years old.
I took the SAT's scoring a very high score the first time and was accepted into what was named the best program in the country for stage management. I truly believed that my dreams were coming true the day I first step onto the Ivy League college called Pennsylvania State University. The program I was enrolled in was very exceptional; I took over 160 credits during my term at the college and graduated in 2006. I then moved to Orlando, Florida and decided that my passion would not allow me to grow further as a human being. I needed to find a new passion, one which would benefit society and feed my love of learning. I chose education. I first worked as a preschool teacher; then I worked as a substitute teacher for the Orange County Public School System teaching grades 5-12 including a number of ESOL classes. I started teaching English online through englishhorizons.com and continued to look for employment that would pay my desired salary. In 2007, I got a job working as a professional tutor, teaching grades K-5. In the United States a law had passed called the ¡®No Child Left Behind Act¡¯ that support continuing enriched education for public school students who were at or below the poverty line. In less than a month I was promoted to asst. director of the program. I worked for the company for about five months. The summer of 2007 I tutored and then in the fall I was offered a director position at another education based company called Learning Alliances/IEP. My job title is regional coordinator and I run a program which offers free afterschool tutoring to students in Orange County. We are paid through the government and raise our student¡¯s skill level in English, math, social students and science anywhere from 5-9%. I love what I do, but I know I could be doing more. I want to be in a classroom with my own class, creating lesson plans and instilling in children a love of the English language. I work best in a group setting, with peers who are there to assist and brainstorm. I have always had a desire to travel and live in other countries! My dream as of 2005 was to teach English in South Korea. I have finally decided to go after this dream, this goal which I keep tucked in the back of my mind. I have done numerous hours of research on teaching ESL/ESOL/TEFL and know I have the drive, skills and personality to be a great candidate.
I thank you for your time and look forward to any contact. Enclosed in my resume and contact information. I am looking to start by August 2008.

SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
1. Currently, I direct and manage a SES program in Orange County, FL. Job responsibilities include marketing to the community, hiring, and administrating to a team that adheres to guidelines set forth by OCPS and the FDOE. In ¡®07-¡¯08, I manage over 250 employees and customers, market and maintaining positive relationships with over 30 other for-profit establishments; I also do all the human resources, advertising, billing, and invoicing. Our duty is to enhance all students skill level in language arts aka English and mathematics. We do this by providing state of the art curriculum and hiring very skilled professors that have been background checked, and cleared through the Florida Department of Education.
2. Professional Educator of up to 20 children, ages ranging from four to six, at local preschool/day care. Was responsible for following of daily activities and lesson plans while implementing children-based psychology and leadership. I also worked in Orange County as a substitute teacher grades 5-12, a professional tutor and went though training in education for both fields.
3. Every semester that I was a student at Pennsylvania State University I recruited, trained, and managed up to 20 non-professional student workers to assist with production and show operations. This involved planning training procedures, organizing training manuals and scheduling training. I administered training techniques to instruct individuals in work-related production or skills, during which positive relationships were maintained through group motivation as well as discipline. I had to recognize learning capability of each individual and create personalized educational materials as well as teaching strategies. During those four years, I also was the stage manager for numerous productions, including ¡°Ragtime¡±, the largest musical production held at Penn State University in the past 11 years. I oversaw a 60-person cast, 30-person crew, and 40-person orchestra. All production problems were resolved in the most efficient, least costly manner.
