Education Intern – Collaborated with classroom teacher in private middle and high school to plan and teach English lessons. Assisted with assessment, and learned various behavior management strategies. Worked one-on-one and in groups with students in English language instruction.

Tutor, Sojourner House – Tutored elementary school students one-on-one in all academic subjects. Worked closely with students throughout academic year, building a strong mentoring relationship.
Westfall Road Detention Center, Rochester, NY (Spring 2006)
Tutor – Provided youth inmates, ranging in age from 10 to 15 years old, with individualized instruction focusing on enhancing reading skills. Gained experience with students of widely varying ability levels by tutoring new students each week as a result of the fluidity of placement in the facility.

Youth Employment Specialist
•Coordinate Learn 2 Earn job readiness program for a diverse population of high school students at the School Without Walls in the Rochester City School District.
•Manage caseload of thirty-five students, promoting academic success and offering strategies to help prepare students for employment.
•Organize and facilitate workshops on topics such as resume writing and dress for success, as well as organizing regular meetings.
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
C.A.S.H. Program, United Way led Coalition, Rochester, NY (1/07-5/07)
Intern – Completed training in tax preparation receiving an IRS volunteer certification. Connected clients with services available to them in the community. Reviewed and prepared volunteer surveys at the main United Way CASH office.

Rochester Landscape Technicians, Rochester, NY (Summer 2007)
Youth Supervisor – Oversaw summer internship positions for twenty youth ages 16 to 20. Responsible for tracking youth participants¡¯ progress at several job sites. Met with youth several times a week, discussed any problems, distributed paychecks, and organized orientation events.
