This experience allowed me to learn how to plan lessons, engage with the students and their language needs, and create fun activities to keep them motivated. I also worked closely with the other teachers to ensure all work areas were covered thoroughly. I observed and interacted with students of all levels and taught many intermediate classes independently. Some of these were observed by the head teacher to help with my progression and development throughout the placement. My experience here has taught me many of the skills necessary to teach EFL students and all my feedback here proved to be very successful.

This course consisted of two components: Language Awareness and The Theory and Practice of English Language Teaching. After completing this course, I now have: 1. a good understanding of how the English Language works (including linguistic variation and the relationships between form and function, 2. a knowledge of the main features of English and of basic grammatical terminology, 3. an awareness of the different needs and types of motivation foreign learners have and of how this should inform their teaching, 4. an understanding of how people learn foreign languages, 5. the ability to plan appropriate and effective lessons, 6. classroom management skills including the ability to use teaching aids, 7. the ability to use and adapt published teaching materials effectively and to create my own simple teaching materials.

As an employee of Cadbury Schweppes, I was required to utilize a wide range of skills in several areas. This was a front line public relations role that demanded a strong awareness of customer service and the need for maintaining an excellent image. This position not only included the meeting and greeting of customers and clients; it also encompassed dealing with much of the administration tasks necessary to maintain such an establishment. Some of these included organizing conference rooms, telephone enquiries, administration, telephone & database training...etc. The emphasis of the position was to have superlative communication skills, the ability to prioritise your workload, and be extremely versatile with a good sense of humour. A high degree of confidentiality was another facet of this post.
