This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental building blocks of rhetorical theory,
including concepts related to speaker, audience, message, and situation. Also included is a survey of
specific rhetorical theories that have been developed over the past 2500 years of human society.
*Students are required to develop critical thinking/analysis practices throughout the course.
Fundamentals of Effective Public Speaking (171) 2004 - 2006
Students gain ability to plan, organize/outline, research and deliver introductory level speeches, while
learning to cope with nervousness. *Practice exercises used throughout the course to promote
participation and understanding of theory and concepts.
